||HOUSE RENOVATION IN CAMBRIDGE, MA
Formerly known as the "blue house" for its original and infamous blue vinyl siding, this single family house was completely gutted and rebuilt with simple elegance. With a strict budget, spatial inpsiration was aquired with plaster and birch plywood.
Load bearing walls were removed to open up the light filled spaces, and replaced with structural beams, left exposed to reinforce the spatial-structural theme. In keeping with the urban design concept, concrete counters in the kitchen were poured into its brushed metal edging, acting both as formwork and structure.
